A rent increase notice should be in writing and state the date of the notice, the new rent amount and the date it will take effect. It should also explain that the landlord believes the new rent is not above market rent and, where required, give details of comparable rental properties used to support that figure. The notice must tell the tenant about their right to refer a dispute to the RTB, and the landlord must serve the notice on the RTB on the same day as the tenant.
