For a tenant ending a tenancy, the required notice depends on its length: 28 days for less than six months; 35 days for six months to less than one year; 42 days for one to less than two years; 56 days for two to less than four years; 84 days for four to less than eight years; and 112 days for eight years or more. Notice should be in writing, signed and clearly state the termination date. A fixed-term agreement may have additional rules, so check the lease and current RTB guidance.
