For a tenant ending a tenancy, the notice period is 28 days for less than six months, rising to 35 days (6–12 months), 42 days (1–2 years), 56 days (2–4 years), 84 days (4–8 years) and 112 days after eight years. If a landlord is ending the tenancy, the periods are generally 90, 152, 180, 196 or 224 days, depending on the tenancy’s length.
