Limerick was formerly covered by Rent Pressure Zone rules, but since 20 June 2025 national rent-control rules generally apply instead. For most private tenancies, a rent increase is limited to 2% or the rate of inflation, whichever is lower, and normally cannot be made more than once in 12 months. The landlord must give the required written notice and explain how the increase was calculated; exemptions and rules for new tenancies can apply.
