Kildare was covered by the Rent Pressure Zone (RPZ) rules, which generally limited rent increases to 2% a year or inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index, whichever was lower. From 1 March 2026, the RPZ system was replaced by nationwide rent-control rules, so the precise limit depends on when the tenancy began and the statutory exceptions that apply. A landlord must give the required notice and follow the rent-review rules; whether an increase is lawful can ultimately be decided by the RTB based on the tenancy’s facts. Check the RTB’s current guidance before relying on the cap.
