Kildare was designated as a Rent Pressure Zone, where rent increases were generally limited to the lower of 2% or the annual change in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), once every 12 months. Since 1 March 2026, nationwide rent-control rules apply instead, so the “Kildare RPZ” label may no longer describe the current position. Specific exemptions and rules can depend on when the tenancy began and whether the landlord is legally resetting the rent.
