Is Limerick a Rent Pressure Zone and what does that mean for rent increases?

A RentWise Team Answered by

Limerick was designated as a Rent Pressure Zone, covering the Limerick City and County Council area. However, from 1 March 2026, the former RPZ system was replaced by national rent-control rules, so location in Limerick is no longer the only relevant test. For most private tenancies, rent increases are generally limited to once a year and to the lower of 2% or inflation, subject to statutory exceptions and transitional rules. Check the latest guidance on gov.ie or the RTB website, or seek legal advice about your tenancy’s specific circumstances.
