Keep the notice, tenancy agreement, rent records and all messages with your landlord, and write down a dated timeline of what happened. Evidence such as a complaint made shortly before the notice, discriminatory comments, missing statutory information, an incorrect notice period or failure to provide required supporting documents may be relevant. Do not ignore the notice: check the rules on the RTB website and consider contacting Threshold or making a dispute application to the RTB within the applicable time limit. The RTB, or a solicitor advising on the facts, will ultimately decide whether the notice is valid or unlawful.
