Louth follows the national Irish tenancy rules, so there are no separate county-specific eviction notice periods. For a standard landlord termination, the notice period generally ranges from 90 days for a tenancy of less than six months to 224 days where it has lasted more than eight years. Different, shorter periods can apply for rent arrears, serious anti-social behaviour or other specific breaches, but the required steps and evidence still matter. A notice must meet legal requirements, and the landlord must generally send a copy to the RTB within 28 days. The RTB ultimately decides disputes based on the tenancy’s facts.
