Cork follows the national Irish tenancy rules, so the notice period usually depends on how long the tenancy has lasted: 90 days for under six months, 152 days for six months to under one year, 180 days for one to under seven years, 196 days for seven to under eight years, and 224 days for eight years or more. A landlord’s notice must generally be in writing, state the termination date and give the required reason where applicable, with a copy sent to the RTB on the same day. Different procedures can apply for rent arrears or serious breaches, and a fixed-term tenancy may have additional protections.
