If you are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness after an eviction, contact your local authority’s homeless services as soon as possible and ask for a homelessness assessment. The council decides whether you qualify for emergency or temporary accommodation under its homelessness policies, so accommodation is not automatic and may depend on your circumstances and availability. Keep your tenancy agreement, eviction notice, identification and evidence of income or household needs, and ask about out-of-hours arrangements if you have nowhere safe to stay. If you believe you were illegally evicted, contact the RTB, Threshold or a solicitor; the RTB does not provide emergency accommodation.
