Ireland does not currently operate a statutory deposit protection scheme like those in some other jurisdictions. If your dispute is about the deposit being withheld, you can generally apply to the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB), which decides disputes based on the tenancy evidence. If the letting agent’s conduct or service is the issue, you may also complain to the Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA), provided the agent is a licensed property services provider. Keep the lease, payment records, photographs and all communications, and consider legal advice if the facts are complicated.
